When I established my blog in October 2014, I never dreamed I would meet so many amazing people, and be part of a community of moms relating to each other and sharing their adventures of motherhood. It has been such an amazing journey so far and I look forward to a few more years of achievements.
Today I was nominated for the Liebster award by the lovely Leigh Geary from The Mom Diaries. We started connecting via our blogs when she won one of my recent competitions, and since we share the same name, we already got off to a good start, began chatting and found we have lot in common. Thank you Leigh, I am looking forward to our ‘Whine and Wine’ play date soon.
So what is this Liebster Award?
It’s pretty much the same concept as a chain letter, I know right… but its not what you think, it’s not your typical “if you don’t forward this in 7 days you will be cursed for life” kind of chain letter- its the good kind… and lets be honest, who wouldn’t accept an award? It was created to help new bloggers to get noticed and encourage a connection between bloggers. I think it is so important that we inspire each other and encourage each others achievements. So I think it’s quite fitting that “Liebster” (of German origin), means “sweetheart / dearest / beloved / darling”
Liebster Award Rules:
*Thank and link the person who nominated you.
*Answer the questions given by the nominator.
*Nominate 11 other bloggers, who have less than 200 followers and link them.
*Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer
*Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.
Thank you for your questions Leigh, here are my answers:
1.What has life/motherhood taught you so far?
Firstly, Motherhood has taught me a hell of a lot about having patience, and how to be okay with having someone else’s poo on your hands and clothes. And secondly, it has taught me to love and be loved unconditionally.
2.Describe to us your idea of a perfect day.
Waking up at 10am would be great. At some point I would also like some ice cream. That’s about it. That’s good enough for me.
3.What is the best book you have ever read?
Read? Is that something you bake with? In all honesty, I am making some effort to read Eat, Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. The only other book I have read is 50 shades of Grey (besides the 2nd half of the last book)
4.Who challenges you the most and why?
My four year old Son. He insists on being the parent.
5.Name two things on your bucket list.
Travel to North America (I must see the Northern Lights with my own eyes) / Learn to play an instrument.
6.What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Willingly had a second child, and seriously considering having a third
7.If you could have any super power what would it be?
Invisibility. Do I EVEN need to elaborate here?
8.How many pairs of shoes do you own? And how many do you actually wear?
I work at a shoe retail head office, so I have lost count. However, I stick to about 5 pairs out of the lot.
9.If you had the power to change ONE thing about South Africa what would it be?
The price of petrol and (good) wine.
10.What are you most proud of?
Saying “My Kids” would be obvious, so I am mostly proud of managing the chaotic moments in life – being a full time working mom, blogger, and studying part time. (over achiever) I have also mastered the mermaid dance. It’s a lot of floor work. Real proud.
11.What one material thing you simply cannot live without?
My car. I mean, how else would I get to the shop in the middle of the night to buy ice cream?
11. High Max It’s Dad (Lets show some love for one of our SA Dad Bloggers – we should have more of these)
So, Nominees, If you want to participate, I have a list of questions for you;
1. Sunsets or Sunrise?
2. What is your most essential appliance?
